Bird

Do you ever feel like a caged bird,
Hearing all that is said,
Watching all that pass by,
Unable to interact in an impacting way?
Do you feel your wings are clipped,
And a cat looms under you,
Waiting for the moment you free yourself
Only to have you for supper?
Do you ever feel like your owner neglects you,
Feeds you only what you need to survive,
Gives you only enough one on one time to keep you alive,
And makes no attempt to see if you'd like more?

We've all been though this phase once before,
Even those that are rich have felt poor,
And I mean not just those who are rich with money.
As there is more to life than what you own,
Life seems more about what you owe.

We are all birds of a different kind,
And the one thing that links us is that we are blind.
Blind to all of that which we care not about,
Just so we can keep our heads up and pout.
Pout for those who have less,
And for those who cannot say yes.
